Chris and his wife, Allison, were both born and raised in Spokane and were happy to return home after completing college. Chris graduated from Central Valley High School in Spokane Valley, while Allison graduated from Ferris High School in Spokane. They met after college, Allison earning her degree in Marketing from Eastern Washington University in Cheney, and Chris earning his degree in Business Finance from Washington State University in Pullman.
Chris began his career in financial planning at MetLife, where he spent two years working under the guidance of his father, Gerry Bafus, who managed the MetLife office in Spokane for 35 years. In 2002, Chris took over as manager and continued to build on his father’s legacy, developing an office known for genuine camaraderie and collaboration among its planners. He joined Pillar Financial Group in 2015.
Chris and Allison have three adult children: Chloe (22) and twins Gwen and Cole (19). All are currently attending college and working towards their degrees. Chloe attends Eastern Washington University and will graduate in Spring 2027 with a degree in Teaching, focusing on Health and Physical Education. Cole attends Washington State University and will graduate in Spring 2029 with a degree in Construction Management. Gwen also attends Washington State University and will graduate in Spring 2029 with a degree in Nursing.
The family enjoys spending their summer months on their boat in North Idaho. Chris and Allison are also proud season ticket holders for Washington State University football and attend all home games at Gesa Field cheering on the Cougs. As new empty nesters, they are looking forward to traveling more and enjoying a slower pace, while always cherishing time spent with their kids when they’re home.
Chris serves on the board of Rockwood Retirement Community, a Spokane life plan community, where he is a member of both the pension and finance committees. He also serves as the Vice Chair of the Board at Appleway Court, an affordable senior living community in Spokane Valley.
